Nigeria–Türkiye agreements to unlock trade, investment opportunities — Business Council member

Dr. Ifeanyi Onukwubiri, a member of the Nigeria–Türkiye Business Council, has stated that the newly signed bilateral agreements between Nigeria and Türkiye will open up new opportunities for trade, investment, and private-sector collaboration. He explained that the agreements, reached during the recent meeting between Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Ankara, demonstrate both countries’ renewed commitment to strengthening economic ties and improving security cooperation.

According to Onukwubiri, the accords and memoranda of understanding signed across key sectors such as trade, investment, energy, education, and defence are expected to create a more business-friendly environment and boost investor confidence. He noted that the reaffirmation of the $5 billion bilateral trade target signals strong determination by both governments to expand commercial exchanges and encourage long-term investments.

He further explained that the improved cooperation framework would allow Nigerian businesses to benefit from Türkiye’s strengths in manufacturing, construction, and logistics, while also giving Turkish investors greater access to Nigeria’s large consumer market. Onukwubiri added that the development aligns with the goals of the Nigerian–Turkish Business Council and pledged continued support from TMT Travels and Tours Limited to deepen trade relations and strengthen economic cooperation between both countries.
