The Nigerian Federal Government plans to establish industrial hubs in four states—Lagos, Ogun, Kano, and Abia—as part of a broader strategy to accelerate economic transformation and industrialization nationwide. This initiative was announced by Senator John Enoh, Minister of State for Industry, during the 16th National Council on Industry, Trade, and Investment held in Lagos. The theme of the council was focused on accelerating diversification by leveraging industry, trade, and investment for shared prosperity.

The establishment of these hubs aligns with the government’s Industrial Revolution Work Group (IRWG), a cross-sectoral initiative launched in February 2025 aimed at revitalizing Nigeria’s industrial sector through stakeholder collaboration, evidence-based policies, and sustained implementation efforts. This move supports President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes economic diversification and sustainable development, targeting Nigeria’s transformation into a manufacturing hub.

Key challenges like energy shortages, infrastructure deficits, and regulatory hurdles are being addressed under this agenda to create a more conducive environment for industrial growth. The government envisions an era of full-scale industrialization where all reforms and investments contribute to building a globally competitive, inclusive, and innovation-driven economy.

Minister Enoh urged collaboration among federal and state governments, private sector players, and development partners to support the IRWG goals. He stressed the importance of translating policy into tangible results by unlocking financing for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), revitalizing dormant industrial zones, and developing vibrant, employment-generating industrial clusters. The chosen industrial hubs aim to capitalize on regional strengths to create jobs and boost economic growth across Nigeria.
