BUA Foods Plc Financial Performance (H1 2025):

BUA Foods Plc reported a strong financial performance for the first half of 2025, with revenue increasing by 36% to ₦912.5 billion from ₦672.4 billion in the same period of 2024. The rise in revenue was accompanied by a 55% increase in gross profit, reaching ₦339.3 billion from ₦218.4 billion.

Operating profit grew to ₦284.8 billion, up from ₦202.3 billion, supported by controlled administrative expenses, which rose modestly to ₦19.4 billion. Selling and distribution expenses nearly doubled to ₦35.6 billion.

Finance income dropped sharply to ₦1.1 billion (from ₦9.2 billion), while finance costs declined to ₦10.2 billion (from ₦19.6 billion), resulting in a net finance cost of ₦9.1 billion compared to a net finance income of ₦10.4 billion in 2024. However, the company recorded a foreign exchange gain of ₦407 million, reversing a previous loss of ₦54.7 billion.

As a result, profit before tax nearly doubled to ₦276.1 billion, and net profit after tax surged to ₦260.1 billion, a 99% increase from ₦130.9 billion in the same period last year. Earnings per share also improved, rising to 14.45 kobofrom 7.27 kobo.

Balance Sheet Highlights:

  • Total assets increased to ₦1.33 trillion (from ₦1.1 trillion).
  • Total equity rose significantly to ₦689.1 billion (from ₦429.1 billion).
  • Total liabilities declined slightly to ₦644.1 billion.
  • Non-current assets grew to ₦434.1 billion, driven by investments in property, plant, and equipment.
  • Current assets rose to ₦899.2 billion, supported by higher trade receivables and intercompany balances.
  • Inventories fell to ₦91.3 billion, while cash and short-term deposits increased to ₦40.9 billion.

On the liabilities side:

  • Non-current liabilities rose to ₦36.6 billion.
  • Current liabilities slightly decreased to ₦607.5 billion.

Overall, BUA Foods showed significant growth in revenue, profitability, and asset base, reflecting strong operational performance and improved financial stability in the first half of 2025.
